Hello!
What would life be if we hadn't courage to attempt anything?
~ Vincent van Gogh
I am an American artist; born and raised in Rogersville, Missouri and living in Antigua, Guatemala. Much of the inspiration for my art comes from the beauty and heartache I have had the privilege of experiencing in these two special places so dear to my heart.
As far as my art education goes, it has been one of a lifetime of interest, passion, trial, and error. There have been so many people who have inspired and spurred on my love of art; my grandmother, school teachers, friends. I'm also extremely thankful for my parents, who encouraged me from a very young age to pursue my artistic passion.
My art is an expression of the beauty and complexity I see in the world and inside of myself. Basically, creating is like breathing to me. I need it to live. So I paint and draw and sculpt as often as I can. When painting I love using bright color and thick brush strokes to express emotion and movement. If a picture is worth a thousand words, then a painting is worth a thousand intangible thoughts, unable to be expressed except through art.
Nowadays, I work out of my little studio and participate in the incredible art scene here in Guatemala as often as possible. I paint live at local artisan festivals and join collaborative gallery exhibitions as well as curating my work here online. Thanks to the Universidad Popular, this year I also did my first solo exhibition. I am continually seeking out new opportunities to connect with the art community here and abroad.
